Visit of Admiral Franco Paoli to Oto Melara

On Thursday, November 8 2007, Adm. Franco Paoli, Commander in Chief of the Northern Tyrrhenian Naval Department, visited the Oto Melara plant of La Spezia.
He was welcomed by the Company’s CEO, Mr. Carlo Alberto Iardella and his top staff.

During the visit, Adm. Paoli was given the opportunity to acquire direct knowledge of the production facilities, the products and the present technological development of Oto Melara, with special focus on the most modern and advanced naval systems among which the new intelligent ammunition DART and VULCANO, together with the new version of the 127mm gun in its Light Weight version armed with a 64mm calibre barrel.

Once again it was underlined how strong the ties are between the Italian Navy and Oto Melara with obvious technological and industrial repercussions on the local area.
The visit, that lasted almost 4 hours and which was marked with utmost cordiality and friendship, ended with the exchange of the Oto Melara and Italian Navy’s crests.
